Thanks to some great volunteering led by Lions Linda Beaman and Hugh Meyers, a large supply of used books, and some great weather, we had a huge success with this year’s Book Sale. We took in more than $4,800 in sales and admissions, 55% more than last year.
In addition to many Lions who contributed their time and effort, we appreciated the usually great involvement from the Friends of Johnston Lions and a super effort from Johnston High School volunteers. Extra books were supplied by the Downtown Lions, who had decided to discontinue their separate annual book sale. With the mild weather, our efforts to spread the word led to a steady stream of book buyers, and many returned customers from years gone by.
The Lions business meeting will determine what portion of the proceeds will be contributed for the benefit of the Johnston Public Library.
